Dyson blows save in walk-off loss to Mariners 8-7

Sam Dyson from opening day(Louis DeLuca/The Dallas Morning News)

SEATTLE — Sam Dyson blows third save of the year in Rangers 8-7 walk-off loss to the Mariners.

Dyson came in with a one-run lead after Nomar Mazara hit a solo homer to lead off top of the ninth. Dyson faced six Mariners batters, only retiring one. Game was tied on a bases loaded walk and won by former Ranger Nelson Cruz with walk-off single.

The blown save is the only of Dyson’s career vs Mariners; he was 5-5 on save attempts prior to today. Dyson came in relief of Matt Bush who struck out the side in eighth. Bush just returned to the Rangers Friday after going back to Texas Wednesday to receive a cortisone injection in his right AC joint after experiencing soreness.

Shin Soo Choo had a big day with 5RBI on a three run home run and a 2RBI opposite field double.

The Rangers have now scored a combined 31 runs in the second and third innings, but just six runs in the eighth and ninth. Today’s loss marks the second time the Rangers have been swept this season after losing all three with Cleveland to open season.
