TEXARKANA — The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 19-year-old Daquarious Meadors on an aggravated robbery warrant issued by the Texarkana Texas Police Department in connection with the robbery attempt Monday night that results in the shooting death of Drake Griffith.
TTPD previously arrested 19-year-old Michael Troy Gray on Wednesday for aggravated robbery after he had turned himself in after learning he was named as a person of interest in the case. According to TTPD, there was probable cause to arrest Gray and did so accordingly.
“Working from very limited information initially, our detectives were ultimately able to determine what actually happened and bring those responsible to justice,” said Chief Dan Shiner said. “I am especially proud of the outstanding work of Detectives Warren Smith and D.E. Evans on this case.”
Both Gray and Meadors are currently being held in the Bi-State Jail. Gray’s bond is set at $100,000, and Meadors’ bond is $50,000.
Officers were dispatched to a shooting at a residence in the 3500 block of Magnolia Street late Monday evening. Upon arrival, according to police, they discovered Griffith dead on the floor riddled with gunshot wounds. TTPD says Griffith was shot by a resident in the home during the botched robbery attempt during an alleged drug deal.
