Gene Jones to present Jerry Jones at Pro Football Hall of Fame induction

FRISCO — The question of who will present for Dallas Cowboys owner, president, and general manager Jerry Jones at his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction has been answered.

Gene Jones, Jerry’s wife since 1963, will present him into the Hall of Fame as a contributor. He will become the 16th representative of the Dallas NFL franchise to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“Any recognition that I may have received throughout our years in the NFL has been the result of a group effort involving all of my family,” said Jerry Jones via Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com.  “Gene is the backbone of our family, and her influence guides and inspires all of us.  She is my closest advisor, my best friend, and it is only fitting that she present me, and represent our entire family, at this very special time.”

The couple met during Jerry’s junior year at the University of Arkansas. A native of Danville, Arkansas and once Arkansas Poultry Princess, Gene has been an instrumental part in the community outreach aspect of the club. In 1989, she initiated the team’s children’s hospital visits throughout Dallas-Fort Worth, a staple of every Christmastime. She is also co-founders of the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Charities that also engages the community on behalf of the Cowboys.

Gene and Jerry have three adult children: Stephen Jones, Jerry Jones, Jr., and Charlotte Jones Anderson, all three of whom hold executive positions with the Cowboys. The family also has nine grandchildren.

Unlike previous years, the enshrinement will occur two days after the Pro Football Hall of Fame game between the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas on Aug. 3 in Canton, Ohio.

Last year’s Hall of Fame game was cancelled at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium due to issues with the painted end zones for the contest between the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts.

Earlier this year at the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame inductions, Anderson got a suggestion on who ought to induct her father. Take a listen at the 6:11 mark:
