Arkansas High earns state tournament berth with 9-5 comeback against Siloam Springs

TEXARKANA — The Arkansas High Razorbacks scored seven unanswered runs to snatch victory from the Siloam Springs Panthers 9-5 Thursday night at Razorback Field.

The Hogs also earned a berth in the 6A Conference Tournament with the win over the Panthers.

Starting pitcher Dylan Adcock was the driving force for the Hogs as he went 6.1 IP and gave up five runs on six hits while striking out nine Panthers batters on 99 pitches. He only hit one batter and walked another.

From the plate, Adcock atoned for a majority of his runs surrendered as he went 3-of-4 from the plate with three singles and three RBI. He also stole a base.

After jumping out to a 2-1 lead over Siloam Springs in the bottom of the first inning, the Panthers clawed the Hogs for four unanswered runs through innings two and three.

Facing a 5-2 deficit to commence the bottom of the fourth inning, right fielder Gage Gore led off with a single to get to start a two-run inning to pull the Hogs within one of the Panthers. Center fielder Drake Browning, who hit an RBI triple, was stranded at third after shortstop Jadas Ross hit a two-out grounder to second baseman L.T. Ellis for Siloam Springs.

Arkansas forced the Panthers into a quick 1-2-3 fifth inning before getting back to work on offense with a two-run inning to reclaim the lead 6-5. Another 1-2-3 inning from the Panthers allowed the Hogs to add three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the onus on the Panthers to overcome a four-run deficit in the top of the seventh inning.

The Razorbacks will now play the Lake Hamilton Wolves at 12:00 p.m. at Razorback Field with the game broadcast live on Fox Sports Radio 1400. What is at stake in the consolation game in the 6A West Conference Tournament is berthing as either the fifth seed or sixth seed in the 6A State Tournament.
