Fundraiser for injured Trooper
Several area agencies are coming together to help out a law enforcement officer and his family. The Arden Volunteer Fire Department, Little River County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Ashdown Police Department are joining forces. They are sponsoring a Chili Dinner and Auction. The event is to raise money to help Corporal Clayton McWilliams and his family with medical expenses. McWilliams is a Trooper with the Arkansas State Highway Police.
Corporal McWilliams was injured January 3rd when his patrol unit left the roadway and hit a tree. It was raining at the time of the crash. Authorities believe his patrol car hydroplaned in the wet conditions.
Authorities say he was in route to a crash scene on Highway 71 at the time of the accident. McWilliams remains hospitalized in a Little Rock Hospital.
McWilliams is a member of the Arkansas State Police Highway Patrol Troop “G”. That entity serves Little River County.
The Fundraiser for the injured Trooper, a Chili Dinner and Auction will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. It will be held in the Ashdown High School Cafeteria.
There will be a live auction, silent auction and raffle.
Also, an assistance fund has been established for McWilliams’ family at Diamond Bank of Texarkana. Deposits can be made at any Diamond Bank branch.
