Genoa Central improved to 7-4 on the year Tuesday as the Lady Dragons won at Caddo Hills over the Lady Indians, 53-38.

“This was a nice win; I’m proud of how much better we looked,” said Lady Dragons coach Cecily Butler. “We’re doing the simple things well. Working our tails off has paid off big. We need that intensity every time we stop on the floor.”

Hill leads Genoa Central with 27 points

Victoria Hill led Genoa Central with 27 points, 8 steals and 5 rebounds. Carly Wood contributed 8 points, 6 blocks, 5 steals and 5 assists, while Maddie Hampton and Chloe Moody scored 6 points each.

The Dragons converted five treys, three by Hill. They were also 12-of-16 from the charity stripe.

Texas High roundballers win pair

The Lady Tigers opened District 16-5A play with a lopside 83-38 win over Hallsville. Texas High (11-4, 1-0) was led by Antonia Porter’s 20 points. Vicki Willis scored 15 and Kerrighan Dunn added 10.

Texas High’s boys played at Commerce, where they prevailed, 58-53. Cole Drumm led the Tigers with 20 points, while Caleb Wilson scored 14.

Pleasant Grove captures two victories

Monique Walker scored 17 points and Madeline Haak added 16 in leading Pleasant Grove’s girls past Saltillo, 54-29.

Pleasant Grove’s boys faced a tougher test beating Hooks, 62-58. Kamron Woods paced the Hawks with 22 points, while Braxton Watkins contributed 12.
