IDABEL, Okla. – Arkansas High advanced to the championship game in the Idabel Winter Classic Friday night by edging Grace Baptist (Miss.), 61-60. The Razorbacks play Oklahoma City Douglas for the title at 8:30 p.m.
Cameron Dorn led the Razorbacks with 20 points, while Micha Yarboro contributed 17.
Douglas advanced Friday by defeating Liberty-Eylau. The Leopards play Grace Baptist Saturday in the third place game.
Tigers split in Longview tournament
LONGVIEW, Texas – C.J. Kelly and Kyle Wright scored 23 points each Friday to lead Texas High past host Longview in the Texas Bank/Longview Regional Medical Center Leroy Romines Hoopfest, 80-73. Wright had seven 3-pointers in the game.
Carlos Phillips added 13 points, with Demarquis Vaughn scoring 11. The Lobos had a 14-game winning streak end with the loss, but they rebounded to win in bracket play, while the Tigers lost to Hallsville, 58-53. Wright led THS with 22 points, including six treys.
Texas High (14-5) plays Wichita Falls Rider Saturday at noon for third place. Longview plays Hallsville at 1:30 p.m. for the championship.
Tyler Lee tops Lady Tigers, PG girls
HALLSVILLE, Texas – Pleasant Grove’s girls split its two games Friday in the Hallsville Holiday Classic. The Lady Hawks routed Kilgore, 64-42. Shanequa Henry paced PG’s attack with 18 points. Pleasant Grove then lost to Tyler Lee, 53-24. Earlier Friday, Tyler Lee slipped past Texas High, 47-42.
A cold-shooting Liberty-Eylau lost to 6A Houston Heights, 75-54. Sincere Roberts led the winners with 20 points, while Tierra Simon contributed 17. Kyla Coston paced the Lady Leopards with 14 points. Skylier Bailey had 10 points and 7 steals, while Eliyah Howard scored 10 points with a pair of treys. Daycoria Meadows had 12 rebounds and 4 steals, while Danielle Thomas added 3 assists, 4 steals and 7 rebounds.
