Russellville edges Arkansas High Razorbacks 23-20 in OT

TEXARKANA — The Russellville Cyclones stunned the Arkansas High Razorbacks 23-20 in an overtime thriller Friday night at Razorback Stadium.

Senior quarterback Ryan Talley, who completed 22-of-41 for 285 yards and three touchdowns, threw the game-winner in overtime to sophomore receiver Marquis Peter for a seven yards. The score improved Russellville to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the 6A West while dropping the Hogs to 4-4 and 2-3 in the 6A West.

Arkansas High went for a field goal on the opening possession of overtime to take a 20-17 lead. The Razorbacks scored a touchdown to tie the game at 17-17 to force the extra period. The Cyclones missed two field goals that would have given them the lead.

Junior running back Jordan Hall rushed 12 times for 39 yards and a touchdown. The Hogs could only muster 37 total rushing yards compared to Russellville’s 109 on 42 carries. Talley had a game-high 22 carries for 68 yards.

Quarterback Sean Foreback completed 12-of-25 for 247 yards and a touchdown. Receivers Irijah Price and DeJordan Mask had five catches for 96 and four catches for 112 respectively. Drake Browning had three catches for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Cyclones receiver Rhett Adkins caught a game-high 11 passes for 135 yards. Greg Thomas caught two passes for 70 yards and a touchdown while Peter had three catches for 16 and two touchdowns.

Russellville earned 16 first downs to the Razorbacks’ 12. The Hogs eclipsed the century mark in penalty yardage with 13 penalties for 136 yards compared to the Cyclones’ four penalties for 30 yards.
