Board of Directors meet tonight in Texarkana, Arkansas.
It’s the first meeting of the year for the Arkansas side city board. It’s also the first meeting for the brand new mayor Allen Brown. Brown was sworn into office on January 1st. That ceremony took place at First United Methodist Church Arkansas.
Tonight’s meeting will begin with the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. This will be given by Mayor Allen Brown.
That will be followed by the Oath of Office for elected Board of Directors. This includes Ward 3 Director Steven Hollibush, and Ward 4 Director Travis Odom. Also being sworn in will be Ward 5 Director, Barbara S. Miner.
The board is then expected to go into executive session. An Assistant Mayor will be chosen and administered the Oath of Office. They will also consider adopting a resolution making appointments to boards, commissions and committees.
There will then be a presentation of the city of Texarkana, Arkansas Employee Service Awards.
The Board of Directors will approve the minutes of the last regular meeting.
Directors will then consider adopting an ordinance granting the request for prerequisite municipal approval of a private club. It’s an application for the Arrow Bar. The applicant requests an emergency clause. An emergency clause requires a separate and distinct vote of the board. It is valid only if there is a two-thirds vote of approval by the board.
Lastly, will be a time for Citizens Communication. That will be followed by adjournment.
The next Texarkana Arkansas City Board of Directors meeting will be on Tuesday, January 22nd.
