Lady Tigers upset Royse City in 15-5A showdown
ROYSE CITY, Texas – Antonia Porter poured in 19 points Tuesday night to help Texas high upset state-ranked Royse City (23-3) in a key District 15-5A high school basketball showdown, 72-65.
The Lady Tigers (16-6) have now won 11 of their last 12 games. Texas High will host Lindale next week.
Porter fouled out late in the contest, but she had plenty of help. Kiasyia Morrison scored 18 points, while Amiyah Rone added 16. Kerrighan Dunn contributed 12 points.
Texas High built a 7-point cushion in the first quarter, which held up until the final buzzer.
Warriors in semifinals of Southwest Arkansas Invitational
MINERAL SPRINGS, Ark. – The Trinity Christian boys high school basketball team roared into the semifinals of the Southwest Arkansas Invitational Wednesday at Mineral Springs High School by defeating Fouke, 78-54.
The Warriors play Bradley Thursday at 5:30 p.m., for an opportunity to play for the championship.
Jakob Martin led Trinity Christian’s offense with 21 points and eight assists. Alex Cobb scored 20 points, while Zach Franklin contributed 18 points.
The Warriors improved to 10-9 with Wednesday’s win.
