

Free Diabetes Class at Southwest Center. The six week series begins today January 15th in Texarkana.
The City of Texarkana, Texas, Parks and Recreation Department and the Salus Center are partnering to offer a healthy living/diabetes self-management and education series.
The Free Diabetes class is open to all adults age 18 and older who are diagnosed, or at risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes. It’s also for people with a family history of diabetes, has a history of hypertension, high cholesterol, or heart disease. It’s also for people who are overweight or obese, or who are interested in healthy lifestyle options. The class is limited to 20 participants and registration is required.

The class will be taught by Salus educator, Rebecca Sanford. She will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding diabetes and healthy living. The workshop is 6 weeks. It will address how diabetes affects your body, and how to understand blood sugar numbers. The series will introduce you to others in the community who have diabetes.
The class will meet from 10:00-11:30 AM at the Southwest Center,3222 W. 7th Street, Texarkana, Texas.
