Shawn Kelley reportedly agrees to contract with the Texas Rangers.

Multiple media outlets including ESPN and report that Free-agent reliever Shawn Kelley and the Texas Rangers agreed to a one-year, $2.75 million deal Monday.

This would bolster the bullpen for the Rangers. The contract reportedly includes a club option for 2020, league sources told ESPN.

Shawn Kelley, the 34 year old held a 2.94 ERA last season in time spent with the Washington and Oakland. The A’s acquired him in August. Kelley was designated for assignment by the Nationals on Aug. 1. This after throwing a tantrum on the mound following a home run. He was traded to Oakland four days later.

The righty struck out 50 in 49 innings and walked just 11 in 2018.

The deal will pay him $2.5 million in 2019 and includes a $250,000 buyout on a $2.5 million option for 2020, according to a source.

The Rangers have been busy in free agency during the  off-season.

Kelley is the second addition to the bullpen for the Rangers. They recently signed reliever Jesse Chavez, as well as starters Lance Lynn and Shelby Miller. The team also acquired infielder Asdrubal Cabrera and catcher Jeff Mathis.
