Liberty-Eylau’s girls basketball team clinched at least a share of second place in District 15-4A Friday night at the Rader Dome with a dominating 79-31 win over North Lamar.
Depending on what Paris did in its regular season finale, L-E may have to play the Lady Wildcats again to determine seeding for the postseason.
North Lamar’s boys outscored the Leopards 30-17 in the middle quarters en route to a convincing 59-42 victory. L-E slips to 2-4 in district with the loss.
The girls’ game got out of hand early with Liberty-Eylau roaring to a 28-3 advantage in the first eight minutes, with 10 players scoring. It was 44-8 at halftime.
Despite the easy win L-E’s girls shot less than 30 percent from the field. Senior Kyla Coston led the Leopards with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Twins Keeley and Kayla Norris contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Senior Alex Asay led North Lamar’s boys with 16 points, while teammate Jay Walter added 15. Dominque Williams was the lone Leopard scoring in double digits with 12 points, all on 3-pointers.
Texas High boys win at Lindale
LINDALE, Texas – Texas High recorded its 25th win of the season Friday by defeating host Lindale, 66-53.
C.J. Kelley led the Tigers with 18 points, while Kyle Wright tallied 15, and Cole Drumm 13. Jacob Koeahell led the Eagles with 16 points, Teigan Edwards adding 14.
Lady Backs tumble in Hot Springs
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Jaliyah Reed poured in 22 points and Brianna Collins added 10 in leading Hot Springs past Arkansas High, 48-35.
Cedrianna Daniels led the Lady Backs with 9 points and 14 rebounds. Kiara Young contributed 8 points.
Trinity Christian falls to Caddo Hills
The good news for Trinity Christian Friday night was the junior high Warriors’ win over Caddo Hills, 40-36. The victory earned Trinity’s youngster the regular season conference title. Silas Nix had 16 points, while Wil Smith scored 12.
The varsity wasn’t as fortunate, losing to Caddo Hills, 48-30. Jakob Martin had 11 points and 7 rebounds for the Warriors.
Bulldogs slip past New Boston boys
QUEEN CITY, Texas – Tyler Nolan scored 17 points Friday night in leading Queen City’s boys past New Boston in a nail-biter, 53-52. Easton Fincher had 14 for the Bulldogs.
Fouke girls win showdown with Centerpoint
FOUKE, Ark. – Fouke’s girls buried 11 treys and claimed undisputed possession of first place in conference Friday night with a 46-38 win over CenterPoint.
Mallory Oliver led the Lady Panthers with 14 points, including three 3-pointers. River Watkins had 12 points with four treys.
Fouke’s boys were beaten by the Knights, 82-39. The Panthers’ next action will be Tuesday at Prescott.
