SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Texas A&M University-Texarkana continues its slump at the plate Friday, dropping a doubleheader to Evangel University, 8-3 and 4-0.
The Eagles (6-10) were tied 3-3 in the third inning of the opener, but losing pitcher Sam Wells could not hold down the Evangel bats. The Crusaders outhit Texarkana, 13-6 in the opener, and 10-5 in the nightcap.
Pequeno had double, single for Eagles
Cal Pequeno had a double and single for the Eagles in the first game. Evangel’s Jose Vargas and Mason Baur had three hits each. Zach Johnston was the winning pitcher for the Crusaders (10-3).
Five different Eagles had a single in the second game off winning pitcher Ben Loge. Cole Connally started and lost for Texarkana.
The Eagles are scheduled to be back in action Tuesday at home against Ouachita Baptist University.
