
Pleasant Grove and Atlanta’s boys basketball seasons have been extended at least one more game.
The Hawks edged Mabank Friday night at Lobo Coliseum in Longview, 55-51. Pleasant Grove (17-15) advances to the Region II-4A quarterfinals to play Crandall or Kilgore.
Atlanta defeated Jefferson in a defensive showdown, 49-44. The Rabbs will play Commerce in the Region II-3A quarterfinals next week. Commerce beat Troup, 53-48.
Daimion Collins and Charlie Powell led Atlanta’s attack with 18 and 16 points, respectively. The Rabbs trailed 27-25 at halftime, but took a 35-33 lead into the final eight minutes.
Tatum eliminates Hooks, 79-51
In another 3A area contest Tatum cruised past Hooks, 79-51.
Texas High’s boys saw their season come to an end in Tyler, where the Tigers (28-9) bowed out against Red Oak, 79-50. Kyle Wright led the Tigers with 18 points, including three treys. C.J. Kelley added 14 points.
Pleasant Grove’s girls were eliminated at the Region II-4A tournament in Commerce by Dallas Lincoln, 71-39.
