FORT WORTH — Jake Guenther hit a home run and three RBI to lead the No. 16 TCU Horned Frogs past the Grand Canyon Lopes 6-5 Sunday at Lupton Stadium.

Guenther was the catalyst for the Horned Frogs as he scored a two-out, two-run home run in the first inning. It was part of six unanswered runs from TCU over the course of the first four innings that established their big lead. It was Guenther’s third multi-hit game and third multi-RBI game of the year. Sunday was also his second game with a home run in 2019.

The pitching for TCU was stellar as Brandon Williamson allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits through five innings of work. He also struck out five batters and walked three others. Marcelo Perez earned the two-inning save, allowing a pair of hits and producing a strikeout.

Jake Eissler retired 16 batters in a row from the third inning through the eighth. Eissler allowed one base runner as he retired 17 of the 18 batters faced.

TCU moves to 5-2 on the season and will take to the road Wednesday night to face Sam Houston State at 6:30 p.m.
