Man arrested after pursuit by Texarkana Texas Police.
Authorities say the man arrested was Dorman Haywood. This after he was caught driving a alleged stolen car and tried to flee from police.
Officer Colten Johnson noticed a gray Mazda driving in the Beverly neighborhood at about 1:45 Sunday morning with a large object in the open trunk. He also pretty quickly realized that the car had been reported stolen the day before. When he tried to stop it, the driver immediately took off.
At some point during the pursuit, the item in the trunk (which wound up being a generator) flew out onto the middle of the street. The car kept going until it struck a curb at MLK and Milam and blew out a tire. However, police say that didn’t even stop Haywood. He kept driving until he finally stopped a few blocks later and was arrested.
He was booked into the Bi-State Jail for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Evading with a Vehicle. His bond was set at $30,000.
