COMMERCE, Texas – Pleasant Grove’s boys were magnificent Friday night at Texas A&M University-Commerce’s Fieldhouse. It wasn’t enough.

Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy (33-6) rallied from an early 19-10 deficit to end the Hawks’ basketball season in the Region II-4A semifinals, 58-54.

Pleasant Grove (18-16) led the cold-shooting Academy 14-10 at the first break, and appeared in command when it scored the first five points in the second period. Four minutes later the Oak Cliff school led 24-23. Still, the Hawks escaped with a 25-24 lead at intermission.

The game was close the rest of the way, the eventual winners taking a 42-40 lead into the final eight minutes. Jared Glover’s two free throws in the final seconds rallied the Hawks within one point.

Dre Robinson was the only Pleasant Grove player in double digits with 14 points. The Hawks’ leading scorer Kamren Woods was held to 4 points. Oak Cliff’s talented 6-6 freshman guard Jordan Walsh was held to 10 points.

Wilmer-Hutchins eliminated Paris in the other semifinal, 68-57.
