ASHDOWN, Ark. – Winning pitcher Ryan Galvan scattered five hits and struck out seven Thursday. Galvan led Pleasant Grove past Arkansas High, 3-2, in the Dugan Ward Memorial Baseball tournament.
Marshall Oubre picked up a save with one inning of work.
Pleasant Grove (8-3) is scheduled to play again Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Jackson Cobb hit a solo home run for the Hawks, while Keaton Russo contributed two doubles and two RBI. Seth Hopkins, Tucker Anderson and Andrew LeGrand had one hit each.
Leopards beat Center in Bobcat Classic
HALLSVILLE, Texas – Liberty-Eylau enjoys a two-game winning streak after Thursday’s 7-3 win over Center in the Bobcat Classic.
Spencer Aldridge struck out six in five innings of work to get the win, while Matthew O’Neal got the save.
Drew Langford led the Leopards at the plate with a double and single, driving in three runs.
L-E (2-7-1, 1-0) is scheduled to play Lucas Lovejoy Friday at 4 p.m., and Hallsville at 6 p.m.
Warriors top Arkansas High freshmen
Silas Nix won his pitching debut Thursday in leading Trinity Christian past Arkansas High’s freshmen, 8-4. Paul Nix relieved Silas after the fourth inning to earn a save.
Jakob Martin led the Warriors at the plate with a double, two singles, and he scored three runs. Paul Nix had two hits and two RBI, while Evan Miller and J.J. Lane contributed one hit and an RBI each.
Lady Tigers rout Kilgore, 14-2
KILGORE, Texas – Kylee Sprigs had three doubles and three RBI for Texas High in Wednesday’s win over Kilgore. Kaitlyn Cross hit a three-run homer for the Lady Tigers.
