
The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office said that an inmate in the Bi-State Jail was found dead in his cell Thursday.
Authorities said that first responders were called Thursday afternoon to a call regarding an inmate unresponsive in his cell. The unresponsive prisoner was identified as 59-year-old Franklin Brooks Greathouse.
The Sheriff’s Office said despite CPR done on Great house by jail staff and assistance from Life Net Personnel; life saving attempts were unsuccessful.
The prisoners’ death is under investigation
Bowie County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers are investigating the death.
Mr. Greathouse’s body was sent off for an autopsy, authorities said.to
The results of this autopsy are pending and the Sheriff’s department said that nothing found during the initial investigation of Mr. Greathouse’s death that would indicate his passing was anything other than natural.
Mr. Greathouse was being held in the Bi-State Jail on a warrant out of Miller County.
