AUSTIN, Texas – Behind four shutout innings from the bullpen, No. 12 Texas Baseball rallied for a 4-3 win over No. 11 Texas Tech Friday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Kamron Fields was electric in relief, pitching three perfect innings with five strikeouts. The sophomore was credited with his second save of the season.

Texas Tech jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning, taking advantage of three-straight two-out walks by Bryce Elder. After the walks loaded the bases, the Red Raiders followed with consecutive RBI hits to go ahead 3-0.

Elder bounced back after the third inning and went on to pitch five innings with four strikeouts.

Texas cut into the lead with one run in the fifth inning. Zach Zubia started the frame with a double to left field and a single by Masen Hibbeler put runners on the corners. Tate Shaw drove in the Longhorns’ first run with a sacrifice fly to center field.

The Longhorns stormed in front in the sixth inning, scoring three runs to take a 4-3 lead. Lance Ford and Eric Kennedy singled and Austin Todd walked to load the bases with one out. Zubia drove in Ellis with the Longhorns’ second sacrifice fly of the game and both Kennedy and Todd moved into scoring position.

The go-ahead runs came home when Ryan Reynolds hit a line drive that was booted at third base, allowing both runners to cross the plate.

Ty Madden pitched a perfect sixth inning and picked up his third win of the season.

Texas and Texas Tech continue the series on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
