MARYVALE, Ariz. — The Rangers posted a 3-2 win over the Brewers on Tuesday in Maryvale, the team’s spring-high third consecutive victory. Texas now has an 11-12-3 record in the exhibition season. Starter Lance Lynn held the Brewers scoreless for 5 innings to pick up the win, and his only runs allowed came after he exited the game in the 6th. Over Lynn’s last 3 outings – 2 in the Cactus League and one minor league contest – he has allowed just 2 runs over 14.0 innings pitched.

Willie Calhoun drove in all 3 Texas runs in the win, hitting a 2-run single in the 2nd inning and a sacrifice fly in the 6th. Calhoun went 2-for-4 today and he has 5 walks against 6 strikeouts this spring. Zack Granite posted the only other multi-hit effort for either team today, going 2-for-4 with a pair of stolen bases. In his 9 spring games with Texas since being acquired from Minnesota, Granite has batted .352 (6-17) with 4 steals. Matt Davidson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a line drive single off the left field wall in the 3rd inning, and he is now 2-for-4 with 2 walks in his last 2 contests. Nolan Fontana scored 2 of the Rangers’ 3 runs, and Hunter Pence saw his hit streak end at 9 games. It marked the second straight low-scoring win for Texas, as batters have not had an extra-base hit in two days despite a pair of double-digit hit totals. The offense loaded the bases in the first inning, but did not score, and stranded 6 total baserunners in the game’s first 3 innings.

The Rangers host the Reds in a 3:05 p.m. CT game on Wednesday in Surprise, with RHP Adrian Sampson (1-0, 2.00) starting for Texas against Cincinnati RHP Tanner Roark (1-1, 2.51).
