Eagles climb above .500 mark with sweep of Lyon College

BATESVILLE, Ark. – Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s baseball team climbed above the .500 mark Tuesday by sweeping a doubleheader from Lyon College, 7-4 and 5-0.

The Eagles (16-14, 6-3) return to Red River Athletic Conference play Thursday with a doubleheader against Texas College at Jarvis Christian University in Hawkins, Texas.

Cole Chambers, Tye Holliday, Isaac D’Agostino and Park Depasquale had two hits each in the opener.

Texarkana trailed Lyon College early 2-0, but captured the lead for good with three runs in the fourth. Tim Frith had a 2-run single, with Holliday contributing a run-scoring double. Depasquale drove in two runs later, with Joe Pearlman contributing a run-scoring single.

Riley Owen was the second of five Texarkana pitchers and got the win.

Eagles score four runs in first inning

In the nightcap, all the scoring came in the first two innings. The Eagles scored all they would need with four in the first frame.

Once again Texarkana coach Steve Jones used five pitchers, and starter Zac Harrington was given the victory.

Chambers was the only Eagle with two hits, scoring a run and driving in another. Depasquale, Bryce Beck and Keone McKee also had run-scoring hits. Pearlman had a single and scored a run.
