Talimena Rally to raise funds for St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.
The annual event is coming to Texarkana later this Spring. It will be centered at the Elks Lodge on the Arkansas side. It’s scheduled for May 23rd through the 25th. Organizer Neil Jones says there will be fun for everyone.
The Talimena rally is named Cruisin for St. Jude.
There will be motorcycle enthusiasts from across the area. There will be a points run on Friday the 24th. You will get a chance to ride the hills of Arkansas. That Saturday there will be a ride to Queen Wilhelmina Park.
If you don’t want to be involved in the motorcycle runs you can choose to attend to see the bands perform and enjoy the meals. Friday night the Bone Dancers will perform and there will be barbecue from Big Jake’s restaurant. Saturday night the band will be Mike Mayberry and The Slow Hands. The meal will be provided by the Road House. The cost for just the bands and the food is $20 per person per night.
If you want to be involved in the points rides it’s $80 per person if registration occurs before May 1st. It will include the the points runs, Rally T-Shirt, four meals, and access to the bands both Friday and Saturday nights of the event. It will be $100 after May 1st and will not include Rally T-Shirt.
The host hotel for the Talimena Rally is the Holiday Inn, 5200 Convention Plaza Drive in Texarkana, Arkansas. King Rooms are $75 plus tax per night. Double Rooms are $85 plus tax per night. Tell them you are with the Talimena Run.
This will be the 8th year that the rally has benefited St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
The first time in 2012 they raised $2,500. Last year over $49,000 was raised. In all over the first 7 years the rally has raised over $160,000 dollars to help fight kids cancer.
