
HAWKINS, Texas – Texas A&M University-Texarkana celebrated July 4 a bit early this year.
The Eagles banged out 22 hits Friday in routing Texas College, 20-4. It was Texarkana’s fourth consecutive series win in the Red River Athletic Conference. The Eagles split a doubleheader with Texas College Thursday, losing in eight innings, 5-4, then winning, 6-5.
All three games were played at Jarvis Christian University in Hawkins, Texas. The Eagles are 18-15 overall and 8-4 in the RRAC.
Lanky right-hander Sam Wells was the major benefactor of the Eagles’ offensive explosion. He went 3.2 innings for the win, and got late relief from Zac Harrington and Riley Owen.

Eagles score in all seven innings
A&M-Texarkana scored in every inning of the seven-inning contest. It erupted for four runs in the second to break a 2-2 tie.
Pleasant Grove graduate Joe Pearlman led the Eagles’ eruption with five singles, also scoring four runs and driving in two others. Tye Holliday had two doubles and two singles, while scoring three runs and driving in one.
Cal Pequeno, Parker Depasquale and Tim Frith had two hits each. Jake McDonald hit a three-run homer, and Cal Hodgins plated three runs with a double.
The Eagles will be back in action Tuesday at home against Bacone College (Okla.).
