SURPRISE, Ariz. — The Rangers lost to the Brewers on Saturday by a 7-3 score, a game in which most Texas starters played 3 innings. Texas scored its first runs in the 8th frame on a 2-run double from Yohel Pozo after 3 straight batters reached with one out. Miguel Aparicio hit an RBI single in the 9th, one of his 2 hits as a reserve. Starter Mike Minor allowed 4 runs in 5.0 innings as he finished with 7 strikeouts. Minor retired 7 straight at one point and his final run allowed came on a 2-out double by Jesus Aguilar his next-to-last batter faced in the 5th inning. Chris Martin recorded 2 strikeouts in a scoreless inning of relief. Pitcher A.J. Alexy posted a scoreless 9th inning with 2 strikeouts, and former big league outfielder James Jones retired his only batter faced out of the bullpen, stranding an inherited runner.
The Rangers have a pair of games on Sunday. The club will play an exhibition game against its Triple-A Nashville Sounds affiliate at 1:05 p.m. CT at Nashville’s First Tennessee Park, with RHP Ariel Jurado starting for Texas against LHP Taylor Hearn for the Sounds.
The club will play its final spring contest in Arizona at 2:05 p.m. CT on Sunday, hosting Kansas City in Surprise. RHP Lance Lynn (1-1, 5.40) will face Royals RHP Jakob Junis (1-1, 5.84) in a game that will feature all minor league players for the Rangers.
