WACO — The Baylor Bears completed the sweep of the West Virginia Mountaineers at Baylor Ballpark with a 10-4 win that was called in the eighth inning due to travel curfew.
Andy Thomas delivered a three-run home run to cap off a seven-run campaign after Baylor trailed 4-3 through the first six innings of the game.
“Strowd was doing a heck of a job for West Virginia, burying fastballs in on our guys and mixed in his slider,” said Bears coach Steve Rodriguez. “It was to the point where I was trying to get creative when we got guys on the base paths, but at the same time, those runners were valuable, so I didn’t want to do that. Next thing you know, there was just hit after hit after hit, and I was really happy with how our guys approached it.”
West Virginia had a nice start to the game by plating three runs on two hits with starter Ryan Leckich on the mound for Baylor.
The Bears stay in Waco and will host Texas Southern on Tuesday with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch.
