ARLINGTON, Texas — The Rangers lost to the Indians, 10-1, on Monday night in Arlington. The game remained scoreless until the 4th inning, when Cleveland’s Eric Stamets opened the scoring with a grand slam off Texas starter Edinson Vólquez. The home run was the only hit in the inning off Vólquez, who also walked 2 and hit a batter in the frame. The right-hander completed 3.1 innings and took the loss in his final spring tune-up, allowing the 4 runs on 5 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. The visitors added another run in the top of the 5th before Ronald Guzmán homered off Cleveland starter Carlos Carrasco in the bottom of the frame, a solo shot that struck the facing of the upper porch in right field. Guzmán, who has hits in 6 of his last 7 games, entered tonight’s contest tied with Rougned Odor and T4th in the Cactus League with 4 home runs, and now stands alone as the club leader with 5 homers in the exhibition season.

Nomar Mazara finished 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, his 3rd multi-hit game in his last 7 contests. Joey Gallo made his 1st ‘A’ game appearance since 3/14 at KC and recorded an outfield assist in the 2nd inning, when he threw out Roberto Pérez at home plate. The Indians added 5 runs in the 8th and 9th innings against the Texas reserves.
