FRISCO, Texas (AP) — The Frisco, Texas Police said a SWAT team on Saturday arrested a man suspected of shooting and wounding a Texas state trooper. Authorities said the suspect allegedly shot the trooper during a traffic stop before holing up in a suburban Dallas apartment for a 15-hour standoff.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said that Bryan M. Cahill, of Frisco, was taken into custody shortly after 5 a.m. and was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Police said once Cahill who is 42 years-old is able; he will be jailed on a charge of aggravated assault on a police officer.

Police said Cahill shot the trooper during a Friday afternoon traffic stop. Cahill then fled to an apartment in Frisco.

Police said that Cahill fired shots at officers’ numerous times during the standoff.  However, police said that nobody else was injured.

Authorities said that the injured state trooper underwent surgery. Police said that they were told by the doctors that the surgery went well.

Police said the apartment complex was still an active crime scene as of 7 a.m. this morning (Saturday).
