By Brandie Davidson

FORT WORTH – Oklahoma State hit a pair of solo home runs in the top of the ninth to rally for a 7-6 victory over No. 19 TCU on Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium.

A see-saw affair started in the second inning when the Cowboys hit two home runs to open up a 3-0 lead.

TCU’s responded with a three spot of its own in the bottom of the inning. Austin Henry singled and Johnny Rizer walked to lead off the frame. A passed ball with runners on the corners allowed Henry to score TCU’s first run. Bobby Goodloe tied the game with a two-run triple.

Oklahoma State regained the lead on a lead-off home run in the third from Andrew Navigato.

In the seventh, the Frogs scored twice to take a 5-4 lead. With runners on the corners, the Cowboys attempted to cut the runner down at home, but the throw was too late and Goodloe scored the tying run. Three batters later, Alex Isola worked a five-pitch bases-loaded walk to give the Frogs their first lead of the game.

After the Cowboys tied the game with a two-out base hit in the eighth, the Frogs once again responded in the bottom of the inning. Jake Guenther’s two-out base hit drove in Goodloe for a 6-5 lead.

It wasn’t to be for the Frogs as the Cowboys got solo home runs from Colin Simpson and Alix Garcia to erase the deficit and take the lead in the top of the ninth, handing Marcelo Perez (2-1) his first career loss.

Haylen Green started for the Frogs and allowed three runs on four hits in 1 2/3 innings. Jake Eissler tossed four innings, surrendering a lone run on three hits. He fanned six. Augie Mihlbauer (1 IP, 1 H, 1 K), Dalton Brown (1 IP, 1 ER) and Charles King (1 IP, 2 H) also pitched for the Frogs.

With the loss, TCU drops to 17-8 overall and 3-2 in Big 12 play. The Horned Frogs and the Cowboys will meet in the rubber match on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Brandon Williamson will get the start for the Frogs.
