Tiger Drive extension approved by the Texarkana Texas Independent School Board.
The TISD Board of Trustees has approved the extension of Tiger Drive off Summerhill Road. The road will be extended from where it now ends to go all the way to the Track, Baseball & Softball Fields. This is part of the overall Texas High School Track Area Improvements. The bid was awarded to Contech for $304,319.
In other business the school board also approved the Texas Middle School Program of Studies & Course Description Guide for 2019-20. New courses include Coding for Grade 8, Synergistic Tech for Grade 8. There will also be Water Sports for Grades 6-7 and Bowling for Grades 6-8. Texas Middle School offers 151 courses for students with 36 Pre-AP courses available.
TISD also has a waiver in place with the Texas Education Agency to limit the number of Foreign Exchange Students to six. Policy FD (LOCAL) requires updating to match the current district waiver and revised administrative regulation guidelines.
The school board also approved the Order Declaring Unopposed Candidates Elected & Cancellation of Trustee Election slated for May 4. Candidates running unopposed were Wanda Boyette, representing District 3, and Bryan DePriest, representing District 5. These board members will now automatically serve another term.
