LSU-Shreveport turned the table on Texas A&M University-Texarkana with a vengeance Friday at George Dobson Field.
After taking a 12-1 beating from the Eagles Thursday, LSU-Shreveport paraded 18 batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring 13 runs en route to a 23-1 victory. The Louisiana club built a 6-0 cushion in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader and won, 8-3.
It was a nightmare for the host Eagles, who managed little offense of their own against winning pitcher Alex Naiser.
TAMU-T (23-22, 11-10) scored its only run in the sixth when Bryce Hudson singled to right, then moved up on Brayden Cook’s single. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch, Hudson scoring on Garrett Cook’s grounder.
Caleb Lasseigne and Payton Robertson had four hits each for the winners. Owen Napieralski and Miguel Morgan hit home runs for LSU-Shreveport.
Hudgins paces Eagles at plate
Jordan Trahan led LSU-Shreveport with three hits in the second game, with Trace Francis earning the win on the mound. Cal Hudgins had two hits for the Eagles.
Winning pitcher Cole Connally and Cole Chambers were the heroes for TAMU-T in Thursday’s win.
Connally went the distance, scattering seven hits, walking two and striking out six. Chambers was perfect with five hits in five appearances at the plate. Hodgins, Keone McKee and Joe Pearlman had two hits each for Texarkana.
