Liberty-Eylau's girls won the 4 x 100 Saturday at the Region II-4A meet with a time of 46.81.

 

COMMERCE, Texas – Liberty-Eylau’s girls are in position to add a Region II-4A Track trophy to their resume’.

The Lady Leopards qualified first in all three relays during Friday night’s prelims, breaking the 4A state record in the 4 x 200.

L-E’s Chelsea Simmons, Danielle Thomas, Lamiah George and Skylier Bailey posted a time of 1:38.28, but the official state record can only be set in Austin. L-E owns that mark with a time of 1:39.0.

The Lady Leopards won their heat in the 4 x 100 with a school record 47.03. Kennedale won the other heat in 47.14. L-E dominated the 4 x 400 with a time of 3:56.59.

L-E boys qualify all relay teams in prelims

Liberty-Eylau’s boys also performed well in the relay prelims. The Leopards won their heat in 41.88, but there were three faster times in the second heat. L-E blazed around the track twice in 1:27.34 to qualify first in the 4 x 200.

The Leopards’ 4 x 400 crossed first in their heat with a time of 3:23.86. Celina won the other heat in 3:23.80.

Senior Keeley Norris and Kurstyne Bailey finished second (18-4 1/2) and fourth (17-5 1/2), respectively for L-E’s girls and 12 points.

Other finalists for the girls include Taoni Reynolds in the 100 and 300 hurdles. Chelsea Simmons finished fourth in the 300, while Reynolds had the sixth best time. Skylier Bailey qualified fourth in the 200. L-E’s boys had Korbyn White in the 100.

Both of Pleasant Grove’s regional qualifiers will be in Saturday’s finals. Jazmin Hever was sixth in the 400, and Linton Colvin was sixth in the boys 400.
