SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Texas A&M University-Texarkana is quietly having an outstanding softball season.
The Eagles swept a doubleheader Friday from Our Lady of the Lake University, 2-1 and 7-3. TAMU-T improves to 22-12 on the season, and 15-5 in the Red River Athletic Conference.
Houston-Victoria is first in the softball standings at 15-3, with LSU-Alexandria only a half game in front of Texarkana.
Cassie Vasquez pitched a gem in Friday’s opener. She allowed four hits and striking out two, while walking none.
Jaden Lance had three of Texarkana’s four hits, including a home run and double. She scored twice and drove in a run.
Lance had two more hits in the nightcap, while Lauren Huff, Kacey Maines and Lauren Bierschenk contributed one hit each.
Eagles split twinbill with Southwest
HOBBS, N.M. – Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s baseball team clinched a berth in next week’s Red River Athletic Conference tournament Friday by splitting a doubleheader with Southwest.
The Eagles (27-26, 14-12) lost the opener, 3-2, but rebounded to win the nightcap, 4-2.
