
ARLINGTON, Texas – Texas High junior Owen Likins is on pace to be Texas High’s best distance runner ever.
Likins won both the 800 and 1600 meter races Saturday at the Region II-5A Track & Field Championships.
Likins’ times among state best
Likins knocked two seconds off his best time in the 800 when he raced to gold in 1:53. Later he cruised to victory in the 1600 with a time of 4:21. He has a career-best of 4:15 in the 1600.
The state meet will be in two weeks at Austin.
