HOBBS, N.M. – University of the Southwest won its series with Texas A&M University-Texarkana Saturday with an 8-5 win.
Southwest split a doubleheader Friday, winning the opener, 3-2, and losing the nightcap, 4-2.
That one win for the Eagles left them tied with Texas College and Jarvis Christian for fourth place in the Red River Athletic Conference standings with identical records of 14-13.
The good news for Texarkana is that the Eagles will be the fourth seed in next week’s conference tournament in Shreveport. TAMU-T won both of its three-game series with Texas College and Jarvis Christian.
TAMU-T is 27-27 on the season.
Eagles’ softball team second in RRAC
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Jordyn Logan helped Texas A&M University-Texarkana rally from an early 2-0 deficit Saturday to beat Our Lady of the Lake University, 6-2.
The win put TAMU-T in second place at 16-5 in the Red River Athletic Conference. The Eagles stand 23-12 on the season.
Cassie Vasquez went the distance in the circle for the second straight day. She allowed two runs, eight hits and walked one in earning the victory.
Logan led the Eagles’ offensively with three hits, and scored two runs. Kacey Maines had a single, scored twice and drove in a run. Hannah Cooper and Lauren Bierschenk had one hit and RBI each.
