CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas Baseball jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Longhorns were unable to build on the lead and lost 8-2 on Tuesday at Whataburger Field.

The Longhorns got out to a great start with two runs in the first inning. Eric Kennedy reached on an error and went all the way to second to get things started. Austin Todd singled to put two runners in front of Zach Zubia who hit a two-run double to left-center field.

Texas could have done much more damage in the first inning, loading the bases with just one out. But a double play ended a bases-loaded threat.

A&M-Corpus Christi tied the game up in the second inning after a pair of walks by starter Coy Cobb. The Islanders followed with an RBI single to knot the game 2-2.

The Islanders then went on two score two more in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings to finish off the 8-2 win.

Texas travels to Lawrence, Kan. for a three-game Big 12 Conference series with the Kansas Jayhawks.
