Three Texarkana teams were eliminated from the UIL baseball and softball playoffs Friday.

Both Texas High and Liberty-Eylau’s baseball teams were one out away from victory, but suffered heart-breaking loses. Texas High’s softball team played some of its best ball of the year, but was still eliminated by second-ranked Forney, 4-1.

Whitehouse baseball team rallies past Tigers’

WHITEHOUSE, Texas – Zach Graham’s two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth rallied Whitehouse past Texas High, 6-5.

The Wildcats’ victory soured a good baseball season by the Tigers, who bow out of the 5A playoffs with a 17-13 record. Whitehouse improves to 22-9-1.

It was Texas High rallying for four runs in the sixth to force extra innings. The Tigers captured the lead in the top of the ninth after a leadoff double by Chris Lyles. He scored two outs later on a single by Conner Allred.

The Tigers out hit Whitehouse, 13-7. Allred had three hits, while Lyles and Michael Sikorski added a double and single each. Jackson Halter and Jokob Hearne had two singles each. Chris Sutton was the losing pitcher in relief of Rian Cellers and Allred.

Leopards’ baseball season end against Kilgore

EMORY, Texas – Seventh-ranked Kilgore rallied for four runs in the seventh inning Friday to eliminate Liberty-Eylau from the 4A baseball playoffs, 5-4.

Mathew O’Neal pitched five strong innings for the Leopards, handing a 4-1 lead over to the bullpen. Blake Carter suffered the loss.

Senior Marzavin Riles led L-E (7-19-2) at the plate with two singles, and drove in two of the Leopards’ runs. Drew Langford and Carter had L-E’s other hits. The Bulldogs (24-5) outhit Liberty-Eylau, 9-4.

Kilgore advances to play Caddo Mills or Wills Point.

Forney pitcher gets her revenge

PARIS, Texas – Forney’s Savannah DesRochers avenged her 2-1 loss to Texas High Thursday, bringing the Lady Tigers’ season to an end, 4-1.

DesRoachers had 31 strikeouts in the 5A three-game series, including 10 Friday night. She held Texas High to three hits. Two came early when Vanessa Perez singled, and eventually scored on a single by Kaitlyn Cross. Lauren Allred had the other hit.

Senior Lindsey Eggers was also outstanding for the Tigers in the circle. She held the ranked Lady Jackets to nine runs while pitching the entire series.

Forney (30-3) will play Joshua or Mount Pleasant in the Region II-5A quarterfinals.
