ASHDOWN, Ark. – Ashdown jumped on Genoa Central early Monday to beat the Dragons, 10-7, winning its 10th straight game, and the 3A South Region Baseball title at City Park.
“It wasn’t a typical Ashdown day,” said Ashdown coach Charles Cross. “We’ve been patient throughout the tournament, but today we came out and scored a lot in the first two innings. We put on a good show for the hometown fans.
“Genoa Central has a very good baseball team. We split with them in two extra inning game during the regular season, but they finished first. We’ve been hot lately, and beaten some good teams, like Pleasant Grove and Nashville.”
