The Linden-Kildare Tigers baseball team learned tragic news on Friday night May 10th. they were coming back from a win in their previous playoff series when they were shocked with news that a student at their school tragically died.
Linden-Kidlare High School junior Caleb Taylor was killed in an accidental shooting, according to the school district. His funeral was earlier this week.
The school district made crisis response counselors available to anyone in their school community. The counselors have been assigned to the high school where they will remain for as long as they are needed. They are offering support to any of district’s students and staff members, the school district said.
“It was a tough week at Linden-Kildare,” John Roberts, Linden-Kildare Tigers head baseball coach said. “The kids had to deal with a tragic death and I wasn’t sure how the kids were going to come out and play.”
Caleb’s passing appeared to have an affect on the LK Tigers play in game one of their 3-game series against Rivercrest this Friday. the Rebels defeated the Tigers 18-11. The loss in the first of Friday’s twin bill meant; if the Tigers were going to stay alive in the state baseball playoffs, they’d have to bounce back and win game two the same night, and game 3 on Saturday.

Coach Roberts said that his team struggled in game one against Rivercrest. He said he told his players after the game that that one was over. He told them to focus on the next game.
Focus they did!
The Tigers laid it all on the line for Caleb. He would of been proud. The Tigers destroyed Rivercrest in game two 15-1 forcing a winner take all game three Saturday night. The game was moved to Chisum which has an artificial surface because of the threat of rain.
