No. 8 Texas Tech evens series with TCU 7-2

LUBBOCK, Texas  – No. 8 Texas Tech evened the series with a 7-2 win over TCU on Friday night at Rip Griffin Park. In the loss, Josh Watson homered and Adam Oviedo recorded three hits.

Gabe Holt led off the game for the Red Raiders with a solo home run. The Frogs tied the game with a solo home run off the bat of Josh Watson in the third.

A pair of runs for Texas Tech in the bottom of the third gave it a lead it would never relinquish. An infield single from Holt scored on a double from Dylan Neuse to break the 1-1 tie. He scored on a base hit to push the advantage to 3-1.

Back-to-back home runs with two outs in the fourth pushed the Texas Tech lead to 5-1.

The Horned Frogs pulled within three, 5-2, with a run in the seventh inning. Alex Isola drew a lead-off walk that was followed by an Andrew Keefer base. With two outs, Adam Oviedo delivered an RBI-single to drive in Isola.

No. 8 Texas Tech got the run back on a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Another run scored in the eighth to account for the final score.

Charles King (4-3) took the loss after allowing six runs on nine hits. He walked two and struck out two over six innings of work.

With the loss, TCU drops to 29-23 overall and 11-12 in Big 12 play. The regular season concludes on Saturday night with the rubber match. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPNU. Brandon Williamson will get the start for the Horned Frogs.
