TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Arkansas Police arrested five juvenile males ages 15-17 early Wednesday morning in connection with car burglaries in the area of Oak Hollow Place.
According to TAPD, the five juvenile males were charged with eight counts of vehicle burglary and property theft.
At approximately 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, TAPD responded to a 911 call in relation to the area of Oak Hollow Place where the 911 caller saw a group of males walking around and looking into parked vehicles in the area, police say. The 911 caller also gave dispatchers a description of the vehicle associated with the group.
TAPD corporal John Gibbert found the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Ramble Wood and Trinity Boulevard. Concurrent with this, 911 received several calls of vehicle burglary and theft in the area where the incident began in the Woodline Addition, according to police.
The names of the juveniles won’t be released as they are minors.
According to TAPD, vehicle break-ins take a few minutes, and are carried out quickly when the doors are unlocked and perpetrators don’t have to smash a window.
Police are advising residents to keep vehicle doors locked, keep valuables such as cell phones, electronics, purses, and wallets in hidden locations, and to report suspicious activity. Anyone with information of any crime is strongly urged to contact the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department at 903-798-3154 or Texarkana area CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP.
