There’s a lot of local flavor in the annual Four States Invitational 4-Ball after Friday’s first day action at Texarkana Country Club.
Bruce Hornbuckle and Braxton Watkins share the early lead in the championship flight with Grayson Jones and Stan Payne. Both teams shot 6-under-par 66, which is three shots better than defending champions Lesley Knight and Lance Vasquez.

Collegians at the top of Four States standings
It was not surprising to see any of the three teams at the top of the Four States Invitational standings. Jones and Watkins are currently playing college golf.

The defending champions started the day slow, with two bogeys over the first five holes. Knight birdied the par-3 sixth, and par-5 seventh to get back to even par.
This year’s three-day event features 134 golfers (67 teams) from four states. The tournament resumes play Saturday morning, concluding Sunday afternoon.
