Texarkana’s (TABA) 6-under Tee Ball All-Stars will be at U.S. Pizza Tuesday so they can promote their upcoming adventure at the Dixie Youth World Series in Brookhaven, Miss.
The local restaurant will be donating 10 percent of its Tuesday receipts to the team. Coaches are estimating expenses to be $4-5 thousand.
“We’ve reached out to different sponsors around town and asked for help,” said assistant coach Brad Irvin. “There will be banners to recognize our sponsors. U.S. Pizza is one of our bigger fund raisers. The Texarkana Arkansas Baseball Association will also be donating some money after the state tournament. The TABA is also donating to the teams going to the World Series.”
There will be three teams representing Arkansas in Mississippi.
Coach praises parents of All-Stars
Head coach Ryan Olson is quick to praise the parents of his players, because of their support all season. Others assisting Olson are Walt Gamble, Layman Cross and Pinson Razaq.
Olson’s team is taking a 4-0 record to Mississippi, having won a tournament at Spring Lake Park. The local teams will play five games. Teams surviving pool play will advance to a double-elimination final.
Representing the 6-under All-Stars are Cam Smith, Lane Cross, Blake Sikes, Beckett Razaq, Ryder McMurry, Collin Irvin, Parker Brown, Carter Turnage, Rayden Ware, Tucker Olson and Owen Hart.
The World Series is scheduled July 19-23. Brookhaven (population 12,520) is located 60 miles south of Jackson. Furthermore, games will be played at the Lincoln County Civic Center Baseball Complex.
