Former Pleasant Grove standout Lucas Wacha has joined AD and head football coach Josh Gibson’s coaching staff.
Wacha will work under Gibson as one of the coaches for the middle and high school football teams, according to the Pleasant Grove Sports Facebook page.
“Hawk Nation please welcome our newest MS/HS football coach,” the Facebook post said.

Wacha played linebacker for the Hawks from 2009 through 2012. He was named Defensive MVP on the Hawks football team in fall of 2010. Wacha played football four years at the University of Wyoming, where he was a two-time team captain. He stands eighth in school history with 334 tackles!

Wacha, younger brother of St. Louis pitcher Michael Wacha, went to training camp with the Dallas Cowboys in 2018, and just returned from the Canadian Football League.
“I am excited to be part of this awesome coaching staff and team that Coach Gibson has built!” said Wacha. “He brings the fire and grit out of people and I can’t wait to be apart of that.”
Wacha’s parents are Tom and Karen Wacha. His sister, Brette Wacha holds several athletic records at Pleasant Grove in basketball and softball. She is also a graduate of Southern Arkansas University, where she played basketball, graduating with a pre-med degree. Lucas’ oldest brother Charley Clapsaddle, is also a graduate of Pleasant Grove. He’s in the transportation business locally.
Lucas’ girlfriend Samantha Stancato, a golfer at Wyoming, is a pro golfer. She will be playing in a tournament in Texarkana next week.
