The fourth cheapest gas prices in the state of Texas can be found in the city that is twice as nice, Texarkana, at $2.39 a gallon.
According to new data released by AAA Texas, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Texarkana was $2.39, tied with Laredo and Lubbock for the fourth-lowest gasoline prices on average in the state. Only McAllen ($2.31), Amarillo ($2.33), and Brownsville-Harlingen ($2.34) had cheaper gas prices.
The Texarkana average is eight cents lower than the statewide average, and it is a full 33 cents cheaper than the national average. Drivers in Midland have the costliest gas in the Lone Star State at $2.64 per gallon on average. However, prices are on the decline. For the second straight week, according to AAA Texas, retail gasoline prices have dropped across the state.
“Gas prices are down slightly compared to last week as millions prepare to hit the road for end-of-summer road trips,” said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas spokesperson. “Drivers can save on fuel by downloading the AAA mobile app to help them find the cheapest gas in their area.”
Regional stock levels are able to meet the steady, strong demand for gas, and the prices are dropping throughout the region. Florida saw a nine-cent drop in gas prices, the largest drop, followed by South Carolina at five cents and Louisiana at four cents. The three states were among the top-10 for largest weekly decreases in the nation.
