The LSU Tigers, Texas Longhorns, and Texas A&M Aggies placed in the 2019 Preseason Amway Coaches Poll, which was released Thursday.

The Tigers were ranked No. 6, the Longhorns placed No. 10, and the Aggies followed right behind at No. 11.

In an advantageous part of the schedule, No. 6 LSU will travel to Austin on Sept. 7 to face No. 10 Texas, which should help shake things out as the regular season goes along. LSU also faces No. 2 Alabama on the road, and will host No. 8 Florida, No. 11 Texas A&M, and No. 16 Auburn at home.

Similarly, for the Aggies, they will face No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Alabama, and No. 3 Georgia along with No. 6 LSU and No. 16 Auburn. Both LSU and Texas A&M have ample opportunity to finish among the final four.

The top-ranked Southeastern Conference team was Alabama at No. 2. Along with the Tigers, Texas A&M, and Alabama, the SEC counts a total of six teams with No. 3 Georgia, No. 8 Florida, and No. 16 Auburn being the other three teams.

For LSU, it is the 19th consecutive season the Tigers have placed in the preseason Top 25, a streak that goes all teh way back to 2001. Last year, LSU started out No. 23 but finished with a 10-3 record and a Fiesta Bowl win.

Texas A&M cracks the Top 25 for the first time since the 2014 season when they were placed No. 20 overall. This is the 15th time since the preseason poll’s 1990 inception the Aggies have appeared in it to start the season.
