De Queen on the come in 2019

The De Queen Leopards had a rough 2018 campaign with a 1-9 record. Third-year head coach Stephen Sloan hopes to lead the Leopards on the way back after taking it on the chin in the final six straight games.

De Queen plays in one of the more challenging conferences in southwest Arkansas with Little Rock McClellan, Camden Fairview, and Arkansas High taking residence. However, if the Leopards can take it one game at a time and handle their business, it would make a heck of a story. Part of the schedule is in their favor as all three of those powerhouses must visit De Queen in 2019.

The Leopards get back defensive end Weston Harp from injury for his senior campaign. Fellow seniors Austin Talkington and Juan Cervantes play along the interior defensive line and provide experience to the trenches.

Kade Martin, a two-way player who lines up at fullback and linebacker, earned all-conference honors, and hopes to play at that level in his senior campaign. The Leopards have a senior cornerback tandem in Chase Pearce and Dailey Nickerson that should turn De Queen into a no fly zone on Friday nights.

At quarterback, Isaiah Williamson provides the senior leadership necessary to get De Queen beyond the one-win mark. Receivers Logan Williamson and Ryan Vance are his two senior receivers, and Marquez Ester provides a running attack out of the backfield sure to keep defenses honest.

The De Queen offensive line has five seniors with Jesus Wences expected to return as the starting center. While Alejandro Camarillo, Chase Cowwley, Julio Alvares, and Aaron Figueroa figure to find spots along the offensive line due to their position flex.
