Harmon’s school-record 6 TD passes propel Hawks past Atlanta

Ben Harmon’s six touchdown passes set a Pleasant Grove school record Friday night at Hawk Stadium, and the Hawks beat 3A powerhouse Atlanta, 48-17.

Harmon only threw seven passes, three going to Sergio Rodriguez for touchdowns, including the game’s first play from scrimmage that covered 80 yards.

Rodriguez also caught scoring passes of 41 and 21 yards in helping Pleasant Grove (3-0) build a 34-14 lead at halftime. Logan Johnson also caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from Harmon in the first half.

More than a hundred young Pleasant Grove fans donned in NFL shirts greeted the Hawks’ players during pre-game ceremonies.

Garrett catches two of Harmon’s TDs

Harmon tossed two touchdown passes (37, 6 yards) to running back Bruce Garrett in the third quarter. The Rabbs’ only points in the final half came on a 30-yard field goal by Daniel Hernandez.

Garrett was the Hawks’ leading rusher with 87 yards on 14 carries, while Johnson added 63 yards on eight totes.

Atlanta piled up 334 total yards against the Hawks’ defense, with senior Dra Nelson running for 100 yards. The Rabbs suffered two costly injuries in the first half, with juniors Caleb Hamilton and Jeremiah Jefferson sidelined.
