Pleasant Grove’s senior quarterback Ben Harmon is the Dewey Moore Ford/Fox Sports Texarkana Player of the Week.
Harmon broke his own school record with six touchdown passes in the Hawks’ 48-17 win over Atlanta. He completed an 80-yard bomb to Sergio Rodriguez on the game’s first play from scrimmage.
Rodriguez hauled in two more of Harmon’s scoring passes, while Bruce Garrett caught two touchdown passes in the second half. Logan Johnson also caught one of Harmon’s TD throws.
Cellers earns Dewey Moore Ford award
Texas High’s junior signal-caller Rian Cellers completed 11 of 15 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 7 and 4-yard touchdown runs.
The performance in the Tigers’ 62-13 win over Liberty-Eylau earns Cellers the ESPN Texarkana Player of the Week honor.
Cellers’ touchdown passes were to Kobe Webster in the first quarter, and Jayden Kelly in the third period.
Mustang repeats as player of the week
Hughes Springs running back Travon Kennedy is the first player in 2019 to repeat as the Dewey Moore Ford/KPYN Player of the Week.
Kennedy carried the ball 12 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns in the Mustangs’ win at Waskom, 35-21.
Hughes Springs improved to 3-0 on the year, and will host Tatum next Friday.
